After selection and availability traumas during the week and frantic phone calls on Friday evening, Southwold eventually managed to raise a side to play Upper Clapton in the 3rd round of the RFU Junior Vase on Saturday.
Although under strength and following a 180 mile round trip to Epping they might have just decided to repeat the famous words of ex.England skipper John Pullin (Bristol) who in the 1970’s took an England side to Dublin during the ‘troubles’ - “we may not be much good but at least we turn up !”. Well full credit we did turn up ! and with tremendous team spirit & tenacity pulled off a tremendous and well deserved victory. Well done to all the players but especially our two props, Levi & James, who manfully got us through the game. David
